Also you don't need to save selections, just ctrl+click the thumbnail in layers panel. I have no clue why he rasterized the text when he could just turn it into vector shape and never ever lose quality of it, especially when he later did the expanding on selection etc, this is not how it should be done properly in my opinion. Guy did it in very destructive way, no wonder you had issues with noise and stuff. I have currently done everything up to the 10th minute): (does that make sense?)Īnd heres the tutorial (might help a bit. I do plan on re-tracing the face tommorow on a bigger art board in illustrator, and making the JPEG bigger, as well as bumping the PPI and quality way up when I save it as a JPEG, so I wont have to actually make it bigger in PS. It looks quite bad.Īny ideas on how it can be fixed? Does Photoshop's ability to keep the quality if an image high not work well for drop shadows of images that have been "blown up"? But when I put the drop shadow in, It came out extremely blocky. And last I knew, Photoshop could make things really big and not sacrifice on quality (at least too much), and I have to admit, it looked OK. When I took the JPEG, inversed the color, and put it in my full size project, it was way too small, so I made it bigger. I did that on a much smaller art board than my full size poster (i think it was like 10Wx8H or something), which I think might have been my mistake. In order to make it work, I needed to trace the facial features in Illustrator and make them black and white. Unfortunately, I had to make a black and white variation of Marshmello's face which I think is part of the problem. I found a great tutorial on YouTube to kind of help me do it. I'm trying to make this "neon lights on brick wall" style poster (half poster size, 18Wx24H) of Marshmello (yea, I'm a nerd, that's beside the point :) ) for my digital imaging class. Sorry for this bit of backstory, it might help find my problem, I'll try to keep it fairly brief Message the mods if you think you are getting blocked by the spam filter or have any questions, comments or suggestions. Photoshop CS2 is NOT (and has never been) free. And yes, it's cheaper than getting PS alone (long story, don't ask). The cheapest way to get Photoshop is with the Photography Plan, which includes Lightroom and costs about $10/month depending on where you are.
